I have also loaded the windows version on my computer at work, with a skin that is similar to the HP15C (for sentimental reasons…).Īlso browsing the developer’s website, I was surprised to see that this software was created in 2004, has had many updates & is available for android, iPhone, Windows, Linux & Mac. I’m sorry to say that I haven’t used very many of the advanced functions. To use these skins with Free42 on iPhone or iPod touch, you must upload them to the device. Remember the location, and, in Free42, choose Main Menu -> Skin: Other, and use the file selection dialog to locate and select the desired skin's layout file. On Android, put the skins wherever you like. The “Free42” RPN calculator is easy to use & works well. On Linux, put the skins in HOME/.free42/. (Also, the approximately $90 or so purchase price at the time, with a young family really hurt!)Īlthough, my present position for the last twenty years doesn’t require anything advanced, RPN is still my first choice for a calculator. It is a complete rewrite, not using any HP code, and it does not require an HP-42S ROM image. Referring to some high-quality (HP and true PDF, not scanned images) documentation cleared up some confusion about programming. Free42 is a re-implementation of the HP-42S calculator and the HP-82240 printer. Update: Developer’s comment that Solver uses TWO initial estimates cleared up some of the mystery. ![]()
